High School

At the start of Grade Seven, Geoff transferred to the Landmark Collegiate, where his father taught Grades Seven through Twelve math for over twenty years.

Geoff was the MVP of his hockey team in his first year there. They did not win a game—but had several exciting ties—and never lost by more than 23-0.

Geoff was the goalie (12+ goals against per game average). Seriously.

He transferred to a regional school in Steinbach at the start of Grade Ten—Landmark didn't teach a physics course except by correspondence—but was back in Landmark after a month, as the academic rigor in the "big city" wasn't up to his standards.

Did some experiments in science class.

In Grade Twelve, Geoff acted (to great local acclaim) in the high school drama alongside Barb Plett, who has since gone on to become "Barb Plett reporting from Cairo" on CBC Radio News. She served him Swiss steak at his grad dinner. With a dirty fork, which turned out to be just from the sticker when they bought it.

Geoff graduated first in a class of eight. Not the class of '08. A graduating class of eight people. And went straight on into....
