Of course, on Geoff's first full day here, the Toronto Police took one look at his rust-eaten, treadbare, gas-leaking car, and pulled it off the road. Permanently.
It's now a toaster, or some other such metallic appliance.
At that early pointhaving walked back from the impound lot at the harbourfront to the U of T, trying to read his disintegrating map in the late November rainGeoff seriously considered renting a car and going straight back to Winnipeg. Thankfully, it was a Friday evening, and none were available until Monday morning. So Geoff had a few hot baths in the Waverly Hotel by the U of Toronto, attended a couple of
folk concerts, and felt rejuvenated enough by the following Monday that he decided to make a go of it after all in "The Big T."
